Rayniel Valerio is a natural playmaker at quarterback who shows his best traits when the play moves outside of structure. He has good feel and movement in the pocket, with the ability to avoid defenders, escape pressure, and continue looking to make plays as a passer. His tape features several impressive examples of extending plays and delivering off-platform throws after the pocket breaks down. That combination of pocket awareness, escapability, and creativity gives him a strong foundation as a quarterback who can turn potential negative plays into positive ones.

The next step for Valerio is becoming a more polished and consistent passer within structure. His throwing motion can get somewhat elongated and looping, which adds time to his release and likely contributes to his slightly below-average arm talent and velocity. I’d like to see a larger sample of him operating on time from a clean pocket, but there is reason for optimism in his development. Tightening his release and improving his overall mechanical efficiency could unlock additional velocity and allow his natural playmaking ability to translate into a more complete quarterback skill set.
