Homecoming Collision: Erasmus Hall Welcomes Curtis for a Brooklyn Showdown With Playoff Implications

Homecoming at Erasmus Hall is already a special occasion. Add a matchup against one of the PSAL’s most dangerous programs, and Saturday’s celebration becomes one of the biggest games on the New York City football calendar.

The Erasmus Hall Dutchmen will welcome the Curtis Warriors to Brooklyn on Saturday, October 31, in a matchup featuring two programs with championship expectations, a history of postseason battles, and plenty still to prove as the PSAL 4A playoff picture comes into focus.

For Erasmus Hall, Homecoming represents an opportunity to celebrate its tradition while reminding the rest of the league that the Dutchmen remain a serious championship contender.

For Curtis, it’s an opportunity to walk into a hostile environment, spoil the celebration, and earn a signature victory against a program that has repeatedly stood in its postseason path.

Erasmus Hall Is Finding Its Rhythm

After opening the season with challenging losses against New Jersey powers Millville and Delbarton, Erasmus Hall has begun looking more like the program that has become a fixture in the PSAL championship conversation.

The Dutchmen delivered a critical 14–12 victory over Tottenville on October 16 before exploding for a 55–12 win over South Shore last Friday.

That performance was their highest-scoring outing of the season and provided a strong offensive statement heading into Homecoming. Eastern PA Football +1

But Saturday presents a different kind of challenge.

Curtis has the offensive firepower to test Erasmus Hall in ways South Shore could not. The Dutchmen will need to combine their recent offensive momentum with the defensive discipline that helped them survive their tightly contested matchup against Tottenville.

Playing in front of alumni, students, and the Erasmus Hall community adds another layer of significance. A Homecoming victory against Curtis would do more than give the Dutchmen another win. It would strengthen their case as one of the teams nobody wants to see in the postseason.

Curtis Isn’t Coming to Brooklyn for the Celebration

The Warriors have put together an impressive campaign of their own, combining explosive scoring performances with a defense capable of taking over games.

Curtis has already posted shutout victories over Port Richmond and Fort Hamilton, while its offense has demonstrated the ability to put up points in bunches.

Following a 41–26 loss to Abraham Lincoln on October 16, Curtis responded with a convincing 38–6 victory over John F. Kennedy Campus last Friday. MaxPreps.com +1

Now the Warriors face an opportunity to measure themselves against another established Brooklyn power.

Curtis has proven it can handle opponents when it controls the pace and creates early separation. Against Erasmus Hall, however, the Warriors will have to show they can sustain drives, finish in the red zone, and avoid the mistakes that become costly against championship-caliber competition.

There’s also a revenge factor.

Erasmus Hall defeated Curtis twice during the 2025 season, including a postseason matchup that ended the Warriors’ championship hopes. Curtis knows what this opponent represents, and Saturday provides an opportunity to change the narrative. On3 +1

More Than Just Another Regular-Season Game

This is the type of matchup that makes PSAL 4A football compelling.

Both programs have championship aspirations. Both possess the talent to make deep postseason runs. And both understand that victories against quality opponents carry additional weight when the playoff conversation begins.

For Erasmus Hall, the challenge is maintaining momentum while managing the emotions of Homecoming.

For Curtis, the challenge is embracing the road environment and turning that atmosphere into motivation.

The team that handles those emotions, protects the football, and wins the battle at the line of scrimmage will put itself in position to leave Saturday with an important victory.

Three Keys to the Game

1. Can Erasmus Hall establish its offense early?

After putting 55 points on the board against South Shore, the Dutchmen will look to carry that momentum into Saturday. Curtis must prevent explosive plays and force Erasmus Hall into sustained, methodical drives.

2. Can Curtis handle the Homecoming atmosphere?

The Warriors can’t allow an early Erasmus Hall surge to dictate the afternoon. Staying composed, limiting turnovers, and controlling field position will be essential.

3. Who wins the physical battle?

Both programs are accustomed to physical football. The ability to establish the running game, win on early downs, and finish tackles could ultimately determine which team controls the fourth quarter.

The ATS Outlook

Erasmus Hall enters with momentum, confidence, and the advantage of playing at home. Curtis arrives with a productive offense, plenty of motivation, and an opportunity to deliver one of the most significant victories of its season.

Expect an emotional, physical contest between two programs that know each other well.

For Erasmus Hall, Homecoming is about tradition, pride, and protecting its home field.

For Curtis, it’s about walking into Brooklyn and ruining the party.

One team gets a statement win. The other leaves with questions to answer as November approaches.

And with the PSAL playoffs drawing closer, Saturday’s showdown could be a preview of another postseason meeting.
