Nassau County delivered one of its most revealing weekends of the season. Garden City survived a late scare against previously unbeaten Carey, Plainedge dominated South Side, and Wantagh remained perfect. Meanwhile, Massapequa continued to separate itself in Conference I, recording its second consecutive shutout.
Garden City Survives Carey in a Thriller
Garden City Trojans escaped with a 13–12 victory over Carey, handing the Seahawks their first loss of the season. Trailing by two with less than a minute remaining, Garden City quarterback Brayden Robertiello engineered a late drive that set up Mark Escher’s game-winning 25-yard field goal with 2.5 seconds remaining.
Carey’s Justin DePietro rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns, but the Trojans found a way to finish. Both teams are now 5–1, and Saturday’s result reinforced just how competitive the Conference II championship race could become.
Plainedge Sends a Message
Plainedge Red Devils delivered arguably the weekend’s most impressive performance, overwhelming previously unbeaten South Side 36–7.The Red Devils forced turnovers on South Side’s first three possessions and built a 22–0 halftime lead. Dom Agovino scored twice on the ground, while linebacker Nick Moutsatsos helped set the tone with an early interception. Plainedge improved to 5–1, extending its winning streak to five games. After losing its opener to Wantagh, the Red Devils have responded with five consecutive convincing victories. South Side remains a contender, but this was a significant statement from Plainedge.
Massapequa Continues to Dominate
Massapequa Chiefs remained unbeaten with a 42–0 victory over East Meadow, improving to 6–0. The Chiefs have now recorded consecutive shutouts against Oceanside and East Meadow, outscoring those opponents 75–0.
After defeating Garden City earlier this season, Massapequa continues to build the strongest résumé in Nassau County. The Chiefs have demonstrated they can win close games against elite competition and dominate opponents when they have the advantage.
Wantagh Remains Perfect
Wantagh Warriors improved to 6–0 with a convincing 28–7 victory over Bethpage. Wantagh’s defense intercepted three passes and held Bethpage without a completion on seven attempts. Luke Martini rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns while adding an interception. The Warriors are now the only unbeaten team remaining in Conference III. With victories over Plainedge and Bethpage already on their résumé, Wantagh has earned its position at the top of the conference.

ATS Takeaway
Massapequa remains Nassau’s standard, but the races underneath are far from settled. The Chiefs continue to dominate Conference I, while Garden City’s narrow victory over Carey showed that Conference II could produce another competitive postseason.
Conference III is becoming particularly interesting. Wantagh remains unbeaten, but Plainedge has arguably been the conference’s most dominant team over the last five weeks. Their earlier 36–33 meeting demonstrated how little separates them.
Seaford’s shutout of Malverne also deserves attention. Conference IV remains competitive, and the Vikings are beginning to build momentum.
At this point in the season, undefeated records matter. But quality wins, strength of schedule and how teams perform against legitimate contenders matter more.
