Week 2 delivered statement performances across several divisions, with Sayville dominating, Northport exploding offensively and Bayport-Blue Point continuing its fast start.
Sayville Completely Takes Over
Sayville didn’t simply beat Harborfields. The Golden Flashes dominated 55-0. Sayville finished with 381 yards of offense while holding Harborfields to just 22 total yards on 34 plays. That’s one of the most complete performances we’ve seen anywhere in Downstate this season.
Northport’s Offense Is Getting Attention
Northport improved to 2-0 with a 35-19 win over North Babylon. Quarterback Gavin O’Brien completed all five of his passes for 242 yards and four touchdowns while adding 75 rushing yards and another score. Five completions. Four passing touchdowns. Northport is officially a team to watch.
Bayport-Blue Point Keeps Building
Bayport-Blue Point improved to 2-0 with a 34-10 win over Mount Sinai. Josh Franchak rushed for 185 yards and a touchdown and added a 94-yard kickoff return for another score. The Phantoms continue to look like one of Suffolk IV’s teams to beat.
Around the League
Sachem North made a major Division I statement by beating William Floyd 35-13. Ward Melville rallied past Longwood 21-18. Half Hollow Hills East remained unbeaten with a 31-0 shutout of Huntington. East Islip blanked Hauppauge 42-0, and Westhampton beat West Islip 28-7.
