The PSAL running back picture has no shortage of talent entering 2026.
Some of the league’s top programs return experienced backs who have already proven they can produce at the varsity level. And the defending champions just added another major weapon to an already dangerous offense.
Here are three returning PSAL running backs ATS Network is watching, plus one new face to know entering 2026.
Kory Brown — Tottenville | Class of 2027
The opportunity is here for Kory Brown.
After sharing a loaded Tottenville backfield, Brown enters his senior season positioned to become one of the featured players in the Pirates’ offense.
The explosiveness has never been in question.
Brown has averaged more than 10 yards per carry during multiple varsity seasons, displaying the type of speed that can turn an ordinary run into six points in a hurry.
Now the workload should follow.
Tottenville reached the PSAL 4A championship game last season before falling to Erasmus Hall. If the Pirates plan on making another run at the title, expect Brown to be right in the middle of it.
Quadere Gomez — Curtis | Class of 2027
Curtis has built its identity around physical football, and Quadere Gomez fits it perfectly.
The powerful back has been producing since early in his varsity career, including a 13-touchdown sophomore season, and now enters 2026 as one of the most experienced returning runners in the PSAL.
Gomez gives Curtis a player who can handle the physical workload that comes with playing in PSAL 4A.
After another strong season for the Warriors in 2025, Gomez enters his senior year with an opportunity to put together his biggest season yet.

Zy’are Schulters — Eagle Academy II
Eagle Academy II has no shortage of athletes, and Zy’are Schulters is a name to know in the Eagles’ backfield entering 2026.
Schulters gives Eagle II another weapon in an offense that will look to build on a strong 2025 season. The Eagles finished 6-2 in PSAL 4A league play last fall, putting themselves firmly in the conversation among the city’s better programs.
Now Schulters has an opportunity to become an even bigger part of that equation.
With Eagle II looking to take the next step and challenge the PSAL’s traditional powers, ATS will be watching to see what Schulters can do with an expanded opportunity in the backfield.

NEW FACE TO WATCH: Jordan Bishop — Erasmus Hall | Transfer from Cornwall
The defending PSAL champions added another weapon.
Jordan Bishop arrives at Erasmus Hall after transferring from Cornwall, giving the Dutchmen an experienced back with a college commitment already in hand.
The roughly 5-foot-9, 195-pound Bishop is committed to Stony Brook and brings a physical running style to an Erasmus offense that once again should have weapons all over the field.
And that’s what makes the move particularly interesting.
Bishop doesn’t have to walk into Erasmus and carry an offense by himself. He joins a program accustomed to surrounding its backs with speed and talent.
Erasmus has developed a reputation for reloading.
Jordan Bishop may be the latest example.
The PSAL Backfields Are Loaded Again
Brown has the explosiveness.
Gomez brings the power.
McKie brings experience.
And Bishop just joined the defending champions.
Four names. Four situations. And four running backs ATS expects to hear plenty about this fall.
